To dance or not to dance? Why your order doesn’t make us jig.

Pink heart on a wooden board with a hanging rope

You’ve probably seen the small business saying that when you buy from an independent store, an actual person does a little happy dance.

These types of ‘support small’ campaigns are popular and this description is used a lot to encourage shoppers to choose the local maker over the faceless giant.

Before we go any further, let’s be really clear. We’re not saying don’t shop small. Far from it in fact. You’ll always see us in an independent cafe over a chain. Or ordering cards from a local illustrator over any company with pigeons or pigs in their name.

But full disclosure.

We can categorically tell you that we don’t ever bust out any moves when a notification lands in of a new customer order.

And that’s not because we’re not grateful for each and every single purchase. We definitely are and we’re so thankful you choose to shop our range of homeware, signs, gifts and keepsakes. It means the world in fact.

But whilst we’re super chuffed and delighted when our phone pings, there’s very little time to dance about because we’ve got work to do bringing your piece to life with care, attention and precision.

And the chances are you’ve chosen to shop with Etched on the Wolds because of our high quality craftsmanship and not our ability to throw some shapes.

You’ve chosen us because you trust us to do a great job. You know we’ll make your piece with the same love as if it were going in our own home. We take our time to bring your vision to life so you have a bespoke product that’ll last.

Instead of exerting ourselves dancing, we put our energy into sourcing and using sustainable packaging. Wrapping your order in recyclable materials to keep it safe, secure as well as being environmentally friendly.

We also use the time we save to think up new product ideas - some of which are seasonal, like our Christmas collection - and others to add to our existing portfolio, giving you more choice, inspiration and ideas to browse.

So we’re totally dispelling the ‘happy dance’ myth but we hope you agree, it’s all for the right reasons.

We’ll just save any dancing for when Mr Brightside comes on the radio as this is pretty much guaranteed to get Rich boogying!
